Flange shaft
Flange shafts are used in powertrains to transmit power. On the one hand, it can be used as a so-called half shaft, which is used as a drive solid shaft in commercial vehicles; on the other hand, it can be used as a connection between a differential gear unit and a constant velocity joint shaft, which is used in passenger cars. A combination process is usually used in production. The flange is first produced using an extrusion process, and then the shank is lengthened and simultaneously shortened in diameter by die forging. In this way, a very long inner groove can be produced without the need for additional machining.
